After the preliminary failure of the talks for a law in Brandenburg for more insect protection, SPD parliamentary group leader Daniel Keller is still hoping for further talks. “I now very much regret that Nabu and BUND (…) unilaterally declare the moderation process over here,” Keller told the German Press Agency on Thursday. “I can only ask Nabu and BUND to come back to the table.”
The basic consensus for compensation to farmers was there, said Keller. However, the farmers asked for some time because the details of the new EU funding were not yet available. In his view, an indefinite law is also not possible because further funding from the federal government and the EU after 2028 is unclear. The Nature Conservation Union (Nabu) Brandenburg and the Bund for Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND) Brandenburg had declared work on a draft law failed on Thursday and blamed the state farmers’ association, SPD and CDU parliamentary group.
