Sally Özcan is 35 years old and describes herself as a “YouTube grandma” because she is one of the first in Germany to achieve such great success with her baking and cooking videos. The ex-teacher became an influencer 12 years ago . A term that she doesn’t particularly like: “Now I, we and our company are more than that,” she says in the current episode “Die Boss”.

Sally Özcan built her food empire together with her husband Murat. It was recently announced that the couple would be going their separate ways, both professionally and privately. In the podcast, she tells us what happens next – and what it means in public perception to be the female head behind the joint business: “If it were Murat’s world and I had gone out, no one would have asked the question about how the man ran the company continues alone.”

Over the past 12 years, she has seen many influencers come and go. But Sally Özcan has made a name for herself outside of the YouTube world. In the podcast she talks about her journey to becoming an entrepreneur and explains why sometimes you have to do exactly the opposite of what everyone expects. In 2020, she opened a flagship store in Mannheim in the midst of the pandemic. The store was named “Store of the Year” by the German Retail Association. She says: “It was actually the case from the beginning that I never did what others advised.”
