Mourning for Matthias Carras: The pop star and presenter died at the weekend at the age of 58. “We received the sad news that our friend and artist Matthias Carras passed away last night in the presence of his family,” says the Instagram page of the hit label Fiesta Records.

With the support of his wife and children, he fought cancer for years. “Our entire team is saddened and dismayed that you have passed away. We will remember you as a strong fighter and hope you can now find your peace of mind,” the statement read.

Carras made his breakthrough in the late 1990s with his songs “I’ll never get enough of you” and “I’m your co-pilot”. From 2002 to 2004 he was also a television presenter and hosted a quiz show on 9Live, later also on Super RTL. In 2015 he retired from the hit business and finally announced his musical comeback in 2021. In 2022 his ninth and last album “Endlich Frei” was released.

Next Friday, the label will release Carras’ duet “This one moment” with singer Sandra Diano (34). According to the record company “at the express request of Matthias”.
