Lisa Marie Presley died on January 12 at the age of 54. The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s daughter was buried at the family home, Graceland, over the weekend. Numerous stars traveled to Memphis, Tennessee for the funeral service and said goodbye to the only Elvis daughter with moving performances. Among the prominent guests was Sarah Ferguson, who quoted her ex-mother-in-law, the Queen, in her speech. “Grief is the price we pay for love,” Fergie said. Prince Andrew’s ex-wife might not have been immediately associated with the Presley family by many.

In fact, Sarah Ferguson and Lisa Marie Presley had been very close friends since the late noughties, seeing each other as sisters. They are said to have spoken to each other on the phone almost every day. “Lisa Marie admired Fergie. From the moment they met, there was an immediate bond. They both cared about this friendship, which is why they kept it so private. Lisa Marie didn’t trust many people outside of her family, but Sarah loved her,” a friend of Fergie’s told the British newspaper Daily Mail.

Ferguson and Presley are said to have found each other through their ex-husbands’ scandals of all things. In the case of Lisa Marie Presley, it was allegations of child abuse against pop star Michael Jackson, to whom she was married from 1994 to 1996. Fergie’s ex-husband Prince Andrew has been implicated in the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein scandal. The two women always gave each other support and support.

When Michael Jackson died completely unexpectedly in 2009, Lisa Marie Presley is said to have found shelter in Sarah Ferguson’s holiday villa in Marbella so that she could mourn in peace. A year later, Presley moved to East Sussex with her fourth husband, musician Michael Lockwood. Presley lived in Great Britain for six years – and thus also very close to her friend Sarah Ferguson. When Lockwood’s marriage failed in 2016, Presley went back to the United States.

In 2020, the mother of four had to cope with the suicide of her son Benjamin. Even then, Fergie stood by her side. “You were with me in my darkest moment and I am in yours now,” the Duchess of York wrote. Lisa Marie Presley never quite got over the death of her son, Fergie now told the US portal “Page Six”. Her friend also died of a broken heart.
