The Italian edition of “Vogue” dedicated its February issue to Tatjana Patitz (1966-2023). The deceased model graces the cover. The black-and-white photo, photographed by star photographer Peter Lindberg (1944-2019), was taken in 1990.

“We were about to close the February issue when she suddenly passed away. ‘Vogue’ has always supported supermodels, she was one of the ‘Big Five’ of the 1990s and 2000s and worked with the photographers who wrote the story for that magazine So dedicating a cover to her quickly seemed like the right thing to do,” editor-in-chief Francesca Ragazzi said in a statement, which can be read in an Instagram post. In addition, there should be more “Vogue” pictures by Patitz in the issue as well as words dedicated to her by model colleagues and personalities from the modeling industry.

Patitz died at the age of 56 from complications from breast cancer. This was announced by the owner of the agency The Model Coop, Corinne Nicholas, after her death. “Tatyana passed away this morning [1/11] in California. The cause of death was breast cancer. She is survived by her son, sister and parents. Needless to say we are all devastated by her death. She was a compassionate one Soul, kind and generous in heart”, Nicholas was quoted among other things by “RTL”.

Patitz was born in Hamburg in March 1966 and was discovered by star photographer Peter Lindbergh when he was just 17 years old. In the 1990s, she herself became a star of the fashion world, graced numerous front pages and, alongside Cindy Crawford (56), Linda Evangelista (57), Christy Turlington (54), Naomi Campbell (52) and Claudia Schiffer (52 ) to the first so-called supermodels.
