At her premiere for the RTL magazine “Extra”, Mareile Höppner gave viewers an insight into her inner life. She talked about what it’s like to take care of her mother, who is in need of care after a stroke.

Höppner originally announced on Instagram that her mother needed care. “I’ve always admired my mom. She’s smart, kind and thoughtful and fair. But somehow I admire her even more now,” she wrote in the summer of 2021.

Now the next moderation job for Höppner follows after “Extra”. On March 5th she will present “stern TV am Sonntag” for the first time. An opportunity that is special for them. The reason is that the show wants to hit the nerve of the time. “The special thing about ‘Stern TV am Sonntag’ is of course that we always want to stay up to date. That means we plan and then dare to throw another topic overboard for an even stronger or current topic,” says Höppner in the RTL interview.

On Sunday the show will be about the energy crisis. A highly topical topic for Höppner, after all, many should have “received mail from their energy providers” this week. “We show who can save how and also who the big winners could be in the end – unfortunately not just the consumers. And if everything works out, I’m looking forward to a special guest in the “Stern TV” studio. For both of us it would be a premiere. I’m curious who will be more surprised, “said the presenter.

Höppner was delighted with the response to what was probably her most personal “Extra” show. The care topic has had a lasting effect on fans of the show, as she reports in the RTL interview. “So many people have shared their story. Many positive examples were told, but also grievances. And in fact we are already shooting on it,” reveals Höppner himself.
