The in-house Pixel devices were the first to be supplied with the new Android 13 from Google last late summer. Samsung and other well-known manufacturers such as OnePlus, Oppo and Sony followed. Some flagships, from Nokia and Motorola, for example, are still waiting for the update. When which manufacturer promises to deliver.
Some ASUS devices have already received the update, such as the Zenfone 9 and 8. Other ASUS smartphones have yet to wait, such as the ROG Phone 6, for which the update is announced by the end of March. The ROG Phone 5 should finally be provided with an update to Android 13 by June 2023.
The makers of Android 13 have already updated the majority of their own devices. All devices from the Pixel 4 can be updated to Android 13, i.e. the Pixel devices 4, 4XL, 4a, 4a 5G, 5, 5a, 6, 6a and 6 Pro. Android 13 is already preinstalled on the current Pixel 7 series.
So far, Motorola devices are all still awaiting their Android 13 update, although a company employee announced in a blog post that the process would begin “early 2023.” In the course of the first and second quarters, all phones from the Edge 20 and Edge 30 series, as well as the Moto G series and the RAZR should receive the Android 13 update.
HMD Global, which has been producing Nokia devices since 2016, delivered the Android 13 update for the Nokia G50 5G, X10 5G, X20 5G and XR20 5G in January. The new operating system is currently being tested on many other smartphones, and an update has been announced – albeit without a date so far – for the Nokia X30 5G, G11, G11 Plus, G21, G60 5G and the Nokia T10, T20 and T21 devices.
Many Samsung devices have received the update since October, especially the flagships and many mid-range phones. Samsung has slightly modified Android 13 for its hardware and delivers it under the name One UI 5.0. In the course of the first and second quarters of 2023, the remaining compatible devices will be supplied with the update.
It is not finally clear which of its smartphones Sony will supply with the update to Android 13. The Japanese announced the update for the Xperia 1IV and Xperia 5IV devices in November and delivered them shortly afterwards. But the Xperia devices 5III, 1III and Pro-1 also received an update to Android 13 without any announcement. Whether and which other devices Sony will supply with the new operating system is currently not clear.
The Chinese group is adapting Android 13 for its devices and releasing the operating system under the name MIUI 14. The company published a global release calendar at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 at the end of February, according to which 18 devices received the update in the first quarter should receive. Flagship devices such as the Xiaomi 12 series, Mi 11 series, Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus and Redmi Note 10 devices are included.
