RTLzwei rows back: Just a few hours after the announcement of a new docu-soap about the pregnancy of Michael Wendler’s (50) wife Laura Müller (22), the broadcaster canceled the project again. In a statement, RTLzwei justified the end of the format with the massive headwind from its viewers.
“We noticed the vehemence of the reactions and take the voices of our audience seriously. We apologize if we have hurt feelings here.” The broadcaster distances itself from “extremism of all kinds” and stands for “open-mindedness and tolerance”.
“It is important to us to avoid even the appearance that the broadcaster is willing to make cuts here. That’s why we will not be pursuing the project with Michael Wendler,” it concludes. The producers of the docu-soaps would fully support this decision.
The docu-soap about Laura’s pregnancy was only announced last Tuesday (March 14). Harsh criticism was not long in coming. Carmen (57) and Robert Geiss (59), who have had their own format on RTLzwei for many years, threatened the broadcaster on Instagram with an exit: “We distance ourselves in the strongest possible way from corona deniers and people who call Germany a concentration camp. “
