Matt Damon (52) already has the names of his wife and four daughters on his skin. Now the actor has gotten another tattoo. The word “nomad” now adorns his upper arm. Tattoo artist Daniel Winter, alias @winterstone, explains what this is all about on his Instagram channel. “We tattooed ‘nomad’ for his late father,” the artist comments on a video showing him at work. “Nomad” was the name of Damon’s father’s boat. In addition, “Damon” read backwards is “nomad”. In other words, “A tattoo with great meaning.”
For the tattoo artist, the job was a dream come true: “I was allowed to tattoo one of my idols,” he writes. And that’s not all: Matt Damon thanked Winter in a special way: “Mr. Damon tattooed me! He tattooed for the first time!” Winter proudly announces. He chose “a small universe… aka a point”.
Matt Damon’s father, Kent, died of cancer in December 2017 at the age of 74, the actor’s management confirmed to Entertainment Weekly at the time. Multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells in the bone marrow, was diagnosed in 2010.
Due to his father’s health condition, Matt Damon had to repeatedly cancel public appointments. In 2017, for example, he did not appear at the Britannia Awards, although he was awarded the Stanley Kubrick Prize there. Even while promoting his film “Downsizing”, Damon was unable to keep some appointments.
