The television audience knows his face from many thrillers: The actor Sven Walser is dead. This was announced by the Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) in Hamburg.
“With Sven Walser, the NDR loses a special actor. For 24 years he played his way into the hearts of the fans in ‘News from Büttenwarder’ with the character of the lovable and funny horseman Kuno,” said NDR program director Frank Beckmann. In other roles, too, Walser has always impressed with a fine and nuanced game. He died on April 4th in Berlin at the age of 59 after a serious illness. He leaves behind his wife and three children together.
Walser had many appearances on television, but mostly in supporting roles, often in thrillers. In Maria Furtwängler’s first “crime scene” case “Lastrumer Misch” (2002) he was seen as the village policeman Holger Funke. He also appeared in the series “Großstadtrevier”, “Die Kanzlei” and “Alarm für Cobra 11 – Die Autobahnpolizei”.
However, he is likely to have grown fond of many TV viewers in the NDR series “News from Büttenwarder”. For 24 years he has played the stable boy Kuno. “It’s unforgettable how he presented his favorite hero ‘Killerkralle’ and cycled through Büttenwarder on his souped-up bike,” NDR recalled.
Renowned theatres
Walser was born on April 26, 1963 in Bremen. He completed his acting training in Hamburg. From there his path first took him to numerous theaters – including well-known houses such as the Schauspiel Köln, the Munich Kammerspiele or the Burgtheater in Vienna. In recent years, Sven Walser has mainly been on stage in Hamburg’s Ernst Deutsch Theater – most recently as the Klabautermann in “Umschlagplatz der Traume”.
NDR television is changing its program and will show three episodes of “News from Büttenwarder” on Saturday (April 15) from 4.45 p.m., namely the episodes “Groggy”, “Survival” and “Bildungsschock”.
