The Helene Fischer Megatour 2023 started on Tuesday evening with a total of 71 concerts in Hamburg’s Barclays Arena – three weeks after the originally planned start in March. As before, the three-hour show was staged by Cirque du Soleil, which has been internationally successful for decades. At the beginning, Fischer impressed with successful circus acrobatics in the air while presenting her new album “Rausch”. The actual start of the mega show 2023 on March 21 in Bremen was canceled at short notice because the 38-year-old suffered a rib fracture during rehearsals.
German media commented on the first concert like this:
“Berliner Zeitung”: “Even in the worn ‘Never Enough’, the only English-language song among 30 pieces, Helene Fischer’s vocal power is evident. Certainly, Céline Dion could hardly have interpreted this number more beautifully. Although the singing actually deserves full attention at this point , the setting captivates you as well: Helene Fischer is actually standing under a waterfall!”
“Hamburger Abendblatt”: “Later, at ‘Full Power Ahead’, they framed the singer with ribbons. On two of them, an artist then did daring exercises at a great height for an electric guitar solo. Ms. Fischer was aiming for overpowering. Especially at ‘Wounds’: Helene Fischer sang unsecured hanging on the trapeze and aerial acrobatics a few meters above the stage, A pas-de-deux with a gymnast, under her a trampoline, to which she first sank down and then up again catapult. You have to be able to do something like that.”
NDR: “Her friend Thomas Seitel (38) was also there. With him, the pop goddess gave a breathtaking performance. With the song ‘Hand in Hand’, Helene floated up with her Thomas on ropes. They looked deeply into each other eyes, hugged and later walked off the stage hand in hand.Furthermore, Fischer sang several tracks from her current album ‘Rausch’ and her big hits like ‘Atemlos’, ‘100%’, ‘Phänomen’ or ‘roller coaster’.”
DPA: “You can think of Helene Fischer what you like. But what she brings to the stage artistically and musically is very impressive and entertaining. This is also shown again and again by the sales figures for concert tickets. ‘Such a big tour can certainly happen in Germany only do Helene Fischer. Rammstein can’t do that,’ said the historian and hit expert Ingo Grabowsky to the German Press Agency. ‘These are real revue shows that they deliver, only on a large scale.'”
“Bild” newspaper: “Then the song the fans had been waiting for all evening. Helene celebrated ‘Breathless through the night’ on an articulated robot arm that rocked up and down, sometimes even upside down. After another change of costume, the singer came in Overknees and a black and silver dress on stage, presented an energetic version of her party song “Achterbahn”. Helene: “Let’s go crazy again!” Helene said goodbye: ‘We’ll see each other again!’ Then she was wheeled down through a hole in the stage floor.”
Watson: “The singer had herself clamped into a kind of robotic arm, which whirled her wildly through the air throughout the song. With his help, Helene stood above the audience and was able to encourage her viewers to sing along again and again. They didn’t do that Don’t say it twice. And while the whole arena roared ‘Breathless’, Helene was not only lifted up and down by the robotic arm. At the beginning of the second verse, the arm turned so that Helene even did parts of the song over her head sang. All of this was only ever held by a belt at chest height, her arms were free the whole time. So anyone who believed that Helene would do without too spectacular show performances after her injury was not only taught a lesson by this song.”
