It’s been more than three months since actor Jeremy Renner (52) was run over by a snow plow. Meanwhile, his recovery seems to be progressing well: The star was still a bit battered at the premiere of his new documentary series “Rennervations”, but happy on the red carpet. In an interview with “People” magazine, Renner’s chiropractor Christopher Vincent was hopeful that the 52-year-old would recover completely and even come back stronger than before the serious accident.
In the first few weeks after the accident, Renner was in “excruciating” pain, Vincent said. The fracture of the tibia alone was serious enough, but Renner suffered a total of more than 30 broken bones. “Mentally you can’t deal with so much pain.”
The therapist went on to explain that pain is the biggest problem in the recovery process: “When you have 30 of them, the body just sends pain signals from every part of the body to the brain. You can’t override them. (…) The Pain is there 24 hours a day, your body doesn’t even get a break when you’re asleep. The pain doesn’t sleep, so it interferes with your sleep and that lack of sleep interferes with recovery.”
Together with a team of professionals, Vincent tried to support Renner’s recovery in every way. Gradually, the chiropractor turned Renner’s house “into a complete rehabilitation center”. Among other things, he prescribed Renner an anti-inflammatory diet and dietary supplements that help to reduce “pain signals that get into the brain”. As his recovery progressed, Renner began meditating and tried to calm himself to overcome the pain.
The chiropractor is convinced that three months after the near-fatal accident, Renner’s resilience is a rarity. The actor is very energetic and has a great determination to get well again.
