She played alongside Ryan Gosling, Robert Downey Jr. or Benedict Cumberbatch: Rachel McAdams has been in front of the camera for 20 years and has appeared in numerous Hollywood productions. However, the Canadian is also known for repeatedly taking time out from the film industry and not taking the beauty craze that is common there quite so seriously. McAdams demonstrated the latter at a photo shoot for the US magazine “Bustle”.
The 44-year-old posed in several designer outfits – and naturally shows off her armpit hair. In one photo she can be seen lying on a sofa in a black corsage, her arms stretched out wide. A second motif shows McAdams in a sleeveless, white dress – her hair under her arms is also clearly visible there. “I’m wearing latex underwear on this shoot. But I’ve had two children. This is my body and I think it’s important to show that to the world,” McAdams told the magazine. She is said to have explicitly asked that her recordings not be edited too much on the computer.
Glamorous photo shoots are rather an exception for the actress. In 2006, for example, she canceled a production with Annie Leibovitz at short notice. The celebrity photographer wanted to shoot McAdams along with Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley for the cover of Vanity Fair. The problem: Designer Tom Ford, then artistic director of the special edition, had persuaded Johansson and Knightley to pose naked – McAdams didn’t do it.
In the end, Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley and Tom Ford ended up on the title. The women were naked, the designer stayed clothed and Rachel McAdams stayed true to her principles. The actress also turned down leading roles in films such as “The Devil Wears Prada”, “James Bond – Casino Royale” or “Mission: Impossible III” because she preferred to take care of her private life instead of a really big career.
Most recently, she made headlines in 2018 when she was photographed for the US magazine “Girls Girls Girls”. At the time, McAdams posed with a breast pump on her breasts because she was still breastfeeding her son, who was born a few months earlier. In 2021, the Canadian gave birth to her second child, a daughter. The father of her children is screenwriter Jamie Linden. The family lives in Toronto.
