It’s been ten years since a 17-year-old from Edinburgh became the youngest participant in the “EuroMillions” lottery to date and won the jackpot: Jane Park won one million British pounds, the equivalent of around 1.2 million euros. What sounds like a dream come true for many has turned into a real nightmare for the young woman over the years. She revealed this on a US talk show.

It all started with the lottery company urging them to make their winnings public. She was “encouraged” to do so, Park said, because such a young winner was “unprecedented.” Young and gullible, she agreed – photos of the blond 17-year-old with the oversized million check then went through the media. Her name was also published. “You had stalkers, you got death threats, people hid in the bushes, everything you did was publicly commented on,” the talk show host told Jane Park. “That had to get under your skin at 17!”

And the 27-year-old confirms: “I wish I had never won. I don’t wish that on anyone.” At first she didn’t even know how to handle the money. She was “young and naive,” says Jane, “I didn’t know anyone who had a lot of money, so I squandered a lot on things I’d wanted for a long time.” Things you want at that age aren’t always reasonable, though. Park has had a “Brazilian butt lift” made famous by Kim Kardashian, breast surgery, and several other cosmetic surgeries. In one case, her body reacted violently to the anesthetic and she had to stay in the hospital for a month.

A few years after her win, Jane Park contacted the lottery company and demanded that the age limit for participation be raised from 16 to 18 in order to prevent other young people from making similar questionable decisions in the recklessness of youth. Your request was successful: the limit was actually raised as a result.

When the young woman talks about her problems with profits, it can sometimes sound cynical: she likes luxury shopping and misses boozy vacations in all-inclusive hotel bunkers, she says, but she means it seriously: “I have material things, but otherwise my life is empty.” This is also due to the fact that Jane finds it difficult to find a partner: she is always afraid that a man will only be after her money.

However, she does have support: her family. She also intervened after Jane had treated herself to various things and didn’t give the impression of wanting to stop spending money. “My family said to me, ‘Look, you’ve spent a little now, now you have to think about how to invest the rest.’ So I bought real estate and put some in the bank.” Without this announcement, as she says herself, her life could have taken a completely different direction.

Today, the young woman sees herself primarily as an influencer. She works part-time in a restaurant because she missed the structure in her everyday life and earns a little extra pocket money with an OnlyFans account where she shares sexy photos. Apart from expensive handbags and the occasional luxury holiday in Dubai, it is actually a life that is no different from that of many other young women.
