King Charles III (74) was officially crowned king at Westminster Abbey this Saturday (May 6). Numerous celebrities congratulated him on social media for this special event.

“Congratulations to His Majesty King Charles III on his coronation,” wrote British music star Elton John (76) in an Instagram post.

Victoria Beckham (49) commemorated Coronation Day with a series of photos showing, among other things, pictures with her former girl band Spice Girls and then Prince Charles. “I have so many fond memories of meeting His Majesty throughout my career and he is always so supportive and kind. Today is a truly historic day and I feel incredibly humbled to celebrate King Charles III and Queen Camilla, as they begin their new roles.”

Ex-Spice Girl colleague Geri Horner (50) also published an Instagram post with old memories with the newly crowned monarch and commented: “Congratulations to King Charles III and Queen Camilla on this truly historic day. Thank you for your service and for your friendship over the years. God bless the king.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones (53) also congratulated with joint photos. The Welsh-born actress wrote in a post on Coronation Day: “God bless the King. God bless the Queen. All my love to King Charles and Queen Camilla. Right now here in the UK, dressed in my best, eating scones with clotted cream and drink a lot of English breakfast tea.”

Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney (80) had already given the monarch a joint picture with Charles on Instagram in the morning: “Enjoy this special day in the history of our country – Paul.”
