The Bavarian Film Prize was awarded at a gala in Munich’s Prinzregententheater on July 16. Michael Bully Herbig (55) received a special award from Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (56), the Bavarian Prime Minister’s Prize.
Söder had “always been a fan” of Herbig – since the “Bullyparade” – the Prime Minister explained on the red carpet to BR television. The director, comedian and actor stands for “a bit of subtle Bavarian humor”. Incidentally, as a “total film fan and film freak”, Söder alone decides on the price.
Herbig’s ninth Bavarian Film Award is “special in that respect, because of course I thought about whether that was an invitation to stop.” The whole thing is like a lifetime achievement award, he told Bayerischer Rundfunk on the red carpet. He also told his son about it and he said: “Maybe they all think you’re 70, or something?” But Herbig finds it “a very special honor. I don’t even know how to deal with it.” But he has no intention of stopping: “It’s a bit like an interim report.” And there are “a few more things that I would really like to do”.
Other prizewinners include Anna Maria Mühe (37) as best actress for her performance in “The Story of a Family” and Florian David Fitz (48) as best actor for his roles in “Oskar’s Dress” and “Wochendrebellen”. . “Rheingold” was awarded as the best film.
