Royal reception for the Spanish national soccer team: After winning the UEFA Nations League on Sunday in Rotterdam, the Furia Roja pose together with King Felipe VI. (55) in front of the steps of the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid.
The Spaniards narrowly defeated Croatia on penalties in the final. Goalkeeper Unai Simón (26) sealed the 5-4 victory for the Iberians with two saved shots. King Felipe is a self-confessed football fan and, as reported by the Spanish media, had lively discussions with the players about the exciting final.
The 55-year-old monarch was even able to look forward to a very special gift. He was presented with a national team jersey signed by all winners – printed with the number 12 and his name. Felipe was also allowed to hold the trophy in his hands.
