According to his own statements, musician Elton John (76) still needs some time to process the end of his farewell tour. The Briton gave the last concert of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour in Stockholm over the weekend.
“Saturday night was magical,” it said in a post on his Instagram page. He thinks it’ll be a while before he realizes he’s actually quitting touring.
“I can’t tell you how much I will miss you all and how humbled your support has made me – it will stay with me forever,” wrote John, who is known for songs like “Rocket Man” and “I’m Still Standing” is known. He had announced that he wanted to have more time for his family in the future.
Farewell tour over five years
His farewell tour had lasted for several years. At the beginning of the 2018 concert series, in “his wildest dreams” he did not have the twists and turns that could predict the highs and lows of the following five years, John said in a statement.
The tour had been interrupted several times, among other things, because of the corona pandemic and a hip injury after the musician fell in 2021. “And my fans were there for me every step of the way,” he said in his post. “You’ve stood by me, you’ve supported me, you’ve been patient and you’ve come to every last show.”
