Prince Harry (39) will soon be traveling to Great Britain to be at his father King Charles’ (75) side. The monarch was diagnosed with cancer. Duchess Meghan (42) will apparently not accompany her husband Harry to England. The Duchess of Sussex will stay at home in Montecito, California, with her children, Prince Archie (4), and Princess Lilibet (2). This is reported by “bbc.com”, among others, citing a spokesman.
He also said that the Duke had spoken to his father about the cancer diagnosis. Prince Harry will travel to Great Britain in the coming days to visit the King. According to royal expert Jennie Bond (73), who worked for the BBC as a royal correspondent for 14 years, this could be the beginning of a reconciliation between Prince Harry and important members of the royal family.
Speaking to Sky News, she said, according to British media reports: “This is a pretty shocking start to the new year for the entire royal family – and now Harry is coming back.” According to the expert, this could mean “a blessing in disguise”: “Perhaps his father’s illness will finally, finally bring about the reconciliation that we have all been talking about for what feels like an eternity.”
There had previously been reports in the British press for months about how strained the relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family was. Prince Harry moved to the USA with his wife Meghan in 2020, and the couple then attacked members of the royals in interviews, a Netflix documentary and Harry’s memoirs.
Buckingham Palace announced on February 5 that King Charles had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer while undergoing surgery for a benign prostate enlargement in late January. The palace statement added that King Charles has begun “regular treatments and doctors have advised him not to undertake any public duties during this time.” However, he will continue to devote himself to state business and official office work.
