Since 2017, Tom Holland (27) has swung through high-rise canyons in the fight against evil in a total of three “Spider-Man” films and has become one of the most sought-after acting stars in Hollywood. His last superhero outing in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” generated billions in revenue and ultimately pushed the blockbuster into the top ten list of the most successful films of all time. As the actor has now announced, he will soon be seen in a tragic role in a new production of the Shakespeare classic “Romeo and Juliet”.
Today, February 6th, Holland revealed on his Instagram account the secret about his film-related break, which he took after his appearance in the Apple TV series “The Crowded Room” last summer. There he shared a poster of the world-famous play by William Shakespeare (1564-1616) with his likeness. Holland will play the role of the tragic love hero Romeo in the production.
Under the direction of star director Jamie Lloyd (43), the show is scheduled to premiere at London’s “Duke of York’s Theater” in May 2024 and then run for a total of twelve weeks. The stage spectacle is announced on the Instagram account of the theater in London’s West End with the following words: “Tom Holland is Romeo in Jamie Lloyd’s vibrant new vision of Shakespeare’s immortal story of wordsmiths, rhymes, lovers and fighters.”
With his role as Romeo, Tom Holland returns to his stage origins for the first time after many years in front of the camera. In 2008, at the tender age of twelve, he made his first appearance as an actor in “Billy Elliot – The Musical”, laying the foundation for his breathtaking later career as a Hollywood star.
