Thanks to growing holiday demand, the world’s largest travel group Tui is on track to do business like it did before the corona pandemic. Bookings for both winter and summer are currently eight percent higher than a year ago, Tui announced on Tuesday in Hanover. According to Tui, customers spend an average of four percent more on their vacation. In the entire financial year until the end of September, CEO Sebastian Ebel wants to continue to increase operating profit by at least a quarter to a record value of more than 1.2 billion euros.
In the past quarter, Tui increased sales by 15 percent year-on-year to 4.3 billion euros. Before interest, taxes and special effects (adjusted EBIT) there was a profit of 6 million euros after a loss of 153 million a year earlier. Otherwise, the group is usually in the red in these months when travel is slow. The net loss attributable to shareholders has now been roughly halved to just under 123 million euros.
