In the AppleTV series “John Sugar”, Colin Farrell (47) becomes the private detective of the same name, who becomes entangled in a decades-old web of lies in the glamorous world of Hollywood. The streaming service has now released the official trailer for the eight-part series, which starts on April 5th with a double episode.

In the two-minute clip, Farrell’s character is seen driving through the sunny streets of Los Angeles in a convertible with his dog in the passenger seat. “Out here, I’m one of the good guys,” he can be heard saying, before the camera angle switches to a bloody fight scene. “But good and evil can be in the eye of the beholder.”

In “John Sugar”, originally just “Sugar”, Farrell, as an American private investigator, investigates the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. During his investigation, he comes across secrets from the Siegel family, some of which are recent and others have long been buried.

The series also stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste (37), Amy Ryan (55), Dennis Boutsikaris (71), Alex Hernandez (34) and Lindsay Pulsipher (41). Farrell also worked as a producer.
