At the 96th Academy Awards, it wasn’t just the numerous Hollywood celebrities who showed up that created glamor. The German soccer world champion and ex-Bayern star Bastian Schweinsteiger (39) also surprisingly walked the red carpet with his wife Ana Ivanović (36). Asked in front of the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles by ProSieben Oscar presenter Steven Gätjen (51) about the reason for his appearance, Schweinsteiger simply replied: “My wife is here today. She has to work, so to speak. And I am the accompaniment that has Fit quite well.”

Among the numerous Hollywood stars, Schweinsteiger’s wife Ana Ivanović cut an excellent figure. The mother of three enchanted in a yellow off-shoulder robe, combined with black heels and a black clutch. Ivanović also shared an amusing story from ski icon Lindsey Vonn (39) on her official Instagram account. In the short video, Schweinsteiger jokingly accepts an Academy Award behind the scenes at the Oscars, and dedicates his award to “all Germans at home.”

Before the award ceremony, Schweinsteiger kept his fingers crossed for German Oscar hope Sandra Hülser (45), who was nominated in the “Best Actress” category for “Anatomy of a Case”, but unfortunately came away empty-handed. He “saw the film and found her performance very impressive. That’s why I hope that she can prevail somehow and keep my fingers crossed for her,” explained Schweinsteiger in the “ProSieben” interview on the red carpet. But Emma Stone (35) ultimately took home the coveted Oscar in the female acting category for “Poor Things”.
