Supermodel Cara Delevingne (31) mourns her house: The actress’s home in Los Angeles went up in flames early Friday morning (local time), as reported by “People”, among others. The roof is said to have collapsed. The model spoke out on social media and gave the all-clear at least in one respect: her cats were rescued.
Delevingne herself was probably not in her house during the accident. On Thursday she was photographed performing in London. According to People, the fire department said the fire broke out in the back of the 600-square-foot property and developed into an extensive attic fire. One person is said to have been in the house during the accident and suffered minor smoke inhalation.
On Friday afternoon, Delevingne spoke up in her Instagram story. She thanked all the firefighters and people “who came to help.” She also posted a photo of her two cats and wrote: “My heart is broken today. I can’t believe it. Life can change in the blink of an eye, so appreciate what you have.” She soon corrected her assumption that her cats had died in the fire. She captioned another photo of the pets: “They’re alive! Thanks to the firefighters.”
Delevingne also shared a video taken near the property showing several fire engines and rescue vehicles parked along the streets with their lights flashing. It took 94 firefighters over two hours to extinguish the fire, according to the LAFD’s X account. The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified. A neighbor told Good Day LA that she heard what sounded like “exploding glass” coming from Delevingne’s property.
How much she cared about the house can be seen in a video from Architectural Digest, where Delevingne showed the architecture and design magazine a tour of the customized, colorful property, which she described as her “adult playhouse.”
