Fans had to wait a long time for a sequel to the horror comedy “Beetlejuice”, but after 36 years the time has come: The studio Warner Bros. released the first trailer for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” with a reference to the cinema release on September 6th.
In the one-minute video, the eponymous poltergeist Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) appears briefly with messy green hair, to the horror of Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder). In the original 1988 hit, Ryder (52) played young Lydia, who moves with her parents into a house whose residents died in a car accident.
The deceased couple (played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis), who wanted to stay in their villa, hired the crazy poltergeist Beetlejuice to scare away the new residents. Whenever his name was spoken three times in a row, the wild spirit was there. In the sequel, Lydia’s teenage daughter Astrid (Jenny Ortega) accidentally brings back the ghost in the sleepy town of Winter River.
Tim Burton (65, “Batman”, “Alice in Wonderland”) returns as director, and Catherine O’Hara is also back in the role of Lydia’s mother Delia Deetz. In addition to “Wednesday” star Ortega, new additions include Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci and Justin Theroux. Hollywood star Brad Pitt and his production company are involved as an executive producer.
