Oscar winner Julia Roberts (56, “Erin Brockovich”) would like to appear in front of the camera for Italian director Luca Guadagnino (52, “Call Me By Your Name”, “Bones and All”). Amazon MGM Studios has secured the rights to the thriller film adaptation “After the Hunt,” US film portals reported on Tuesday (local time).
The story revolves around a college professor who is at a crossroads both personally and professionally. When a student makes allegations against another member of the faculty, there is a risk that a dark secret from the professor’s life will come to light.
The script comes from actress Nora Garrett, who was able to submit her first script to a studio. Star producer Brian Grazer (“A Beautiful Mind”, “Rush”) is on board as co-producer.
“Pretty Woman” star Roberts was last seen in the apocalyptic thriller “Leave The World Behind” (2023) on the streaming service Netflix. Guadagnino was previously successful with the dramas “Call Me by Your Name” and “Bones and All” with Timothée Chalamet in the lead roles. His love triangle story “Challengers” with Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist is scheduled to appear in German cinemas at the end of April. Nothing was initially known about the possible start of filming of “After the Hunt” or the other cast.
