They are considered one of Hollywood’s longest-lived dream couples: Goldie Hawn (77) and Kurt Russell (72) have been living together in a wild marriage since 1983. Their son Wyatt Russell (38), who is also making a career in Hollywood, comes from their relationship. In an interview with the American broadcaster CNN, the Oscar winner now explains why she never walked in front of the altar with Russell. “Why should we do that? Wouldn’t that be a better question,” she replies almost snippy to the journalist’s question.

Both have already had the experience of failed marriages, explains Hawn when asked again. She herself has been married twice: first from 1969 to 1976 to her colleague Gus Trikonis (85), from 1976 to 1982 then to the musician Bill Hudson (73). With the latter she even has two children together, the actors Oliver Hudson (46) and Kate Hudson (44). Russell was married to his colleague Season Hubley (72) from 1979 to 1983, with whom he has another son.

Money also apparently plays a role that should not be neglected in their considerations: “If it doesn’t work out, it becomes big business. It’s always ugly,” says Hawn, before presenting a whole salvo of counter-questions: “How how many divorces are funny? how many divorces don’t cost money? how many divorces make you hate the person more than before? how many divorces harm the kids?”

She also likes the thought of waking up every morning to decide if she really wants to be with Russell. “I mean, relationships are difficult. They’re not always easy. There are all kinds of hurdles that we have to overcome.” For her, however, it is important in the process to remain independent and to be able to think independently.
