“American Pie” became a truly gigantic financial success in 1999. The cult teen comedy grossed the incredible sum of over 235 million US dollars (equivalent to around 213 million euros) worldwide. However, actor Seann William Scott (46), one of the shooting stars of “American Pie” at the time, has now revealed how little money he made from the first entry in the long-lived hit film series.

Scott played fan-favorite Steve Stifler in American Pie and its follow-up films American Pie 2 (2001), American Pie: The Marriage (2003) and American Pie (2012). But for his first appearance in the film series, he received the meager fee of just 8,000 US dollars (around 7,250 euros). According to “Deadline”, the actor revealed this in a US television show.

At the time, however, Scott was very happy about this sum because it was “a lot of money” for him. He then immediately invested between $5,000 and $6,000 of his “American Pie” fee in a set of wheels – a used Thunderbird.

“I don’t know what happened to the remaining $2,000 because I ended up working as a pie seller at the Los Angeles Zoo. It might have been less than $8,000,” Scott continued.
