Atze Schröder (57) shows Duckburg where the duck has the curls. The comedian from Essen is not only co-author of the latest dialect edition of the “Funny Paperback”, but also a guest star. This was announced by Egmont Ehapa Verlag in a press release. “It is a special honor to be part of the Duckburg cosmos. A childhood dream comes true,” Atze Schröder is quoted as saying. The book will be available in stores on August 8, 2023.
A comic version of the Ruhrpott Casanova also appears in the stories. Like the original, the drake variant wears aviator glasses and a curly head – or “Krüsselkopp”. Because the language of the new “Funny Paperback” is Ruhr German: the dialect that is spoken in the “pot” around Essen, Bochum or Dortmund.
Atze Schröder’s Duckburg-I serves as the Ducks’ style advisor in the comic. Daisy doesn’t want to see her permanent fiancé Donald in his forever sailor suit, but in modern clothes. Atze provides Donald with a new styling and his drinking hall is also transformed into a boutique.
The Ruhr German edition is the sixth dialect offshoot of the “Funny Paperback”. Previously, volumes in Munich dialect, Berliner dialect, Viennese dialect, Kölsch and Swabian dialect had been published since 2016.
