Multi-billionaire Elon Musk (52) has given an update on his planned fight with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (39) on his news platform, which was recently renamed X. Accordingly, the bizarre duel should apparently take place in Italy. “I spoke to the Prime Minister of Italy and Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano. They agree with an epic setting,” Musk claims.

He also writes that the fight will not be held by the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), but by his and Zuckerberg’s respective foundation. “A live stream will be offered on this platform as well as on Meta. Everything in the picture will be ancient Rome, so absolutely nothing modern,” is another abstruse promise from the billionaire. They also plan to donate all proceeds to veterans.

However, Sangiuliano now contradicts at least the Rome part of this statement: “We are thinking about how we can organize a great charity event […] where we respect and preserve the location. It will not take place in Rome,” quoted ” Variety” from a statement.

Almost in passing, Musk himself mentions another major catch. At the beginning of the week, as previously written, he underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The result: “There is a problem with my right shoulder blade, which is rubbing against my ribs. Therefore, a small operation is necessary. The recovery will only take a few months.” Sounds like the battle of the tech titans won’t be able to start until this winter at the earliest – unless one of the two changes their mind by then.

Musk challenged Zuckerberg to a cage fight in June of this year. He is ready if Zuckerberg is too. He replied with a “Send Me Location” and accepted the challenge. The Facebook boss does indeed seem to have good cards: Zuckerberg has martial arts experience, he said he only took part in his first jiu-jitsu competition in May and won several medals.
