The records that US musician Taylor Swift (33) has already broken could soon fill a whole book. Now the superstar has weighed several millions at the box office. The presale to the documentary about their ongoing world tour has sold $26 million worth of tickets in one day.
This was announced by AMC, the largest cinema chain in the USA on Friday. The company’s website lists the length of the film as 2 hours 45 minutes. The documentary has thus beaten the previous record holder “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. “The Eras Tour” is the most meaningful and exciting experience of her life so far, the pop star wrote on Instagram on Thursday (local time).
She is “overjoyed” to tell her fans that they can experience the tour as a concert film in the cinema. Swift also posted a one-minute video with a compilation of their performances. According to the announcement, the film will start on October 13th in North American cinemas.
The horror flick “The Exorcist – Confession” was originally supposed to start in the US on the same date, but producer Jason Blum responded promptly to Swift’s announcement on Thursday and pushed the US theatrical release forward a week. “Look What You Made Me Do,” Blum quipped on the online platform X (formerly Twitter), in reference to Swift’s song title, with the hashtag
Swift has been touring the world with her “The Eras Tour” since March. The European leg of the tour is scheduled to start in Paris in May 2024. Next July she also wants to be on stage in Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg and Munich.
