Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit (50) is on sick leave – and will therefore not be attending the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the throne of Sweden’s King Carl XVI. Gustaf (77) will take part at the weekend. The Norwegian royal family announced this on Thursday.
The sick note is initially valid for two weeks, but can be extended. That is why Mette-Marit will not take part in a trip to Western Norway with her husband, Crown Prince Haakon (50). This is planned for the end of September.
Mette-Marit has canceled appointments several times in recent years for health reasons. The Norwegian princess suffers from pulmonary fibrosis – a chronic lung disease that can lead to, among other things, shortness of breath. In its current announcement, the palace points out that Mette-Marit’s illness can sometimes prevent her from carrying out her official duties.
