So there are several places which you can avoid.
Each year make the american travel guide Fodor’s Travel, a list of places, man – either for ethical, environmental or political reasons – should reconsider, before you leave.
In the years there have been a list of 13 countries, as a tourist, you should avoid if you want to experience the world in a responsible way.
at the Top of the list is the Spanish city of Barcelona, where tourism according to the travel guide in recent years, it has grown to such an extent, that there is physically not room for all the people who flock to the city to see tourist attractions as the Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell.
In 1990, spoke, according to Berlingske 1.7 million. nights spent in hotels in Barcelona, while the numbers in 2016, had grown to 17 million. An increase that has degraded the quality of life for residents in the city.
On the list of 13 places Fodor’s Travel thinks, as a tourist, you should stay away from is also apparent from the indonesian island of Bali.
One of the biggest consequences of overturisme on the island is the large amount of plastic and waste that ends up in the sea and on the balinese beaches.
According to Bali’s environment agency produced the island back in 2017 3.800 tonnes of waste every day, of which only 60 percent landed in the garbage cans.
another place that is on the list – albeit for quite other reasons than the Bali is the swiss mountain Matterhorn, which have proved to be perilous to attempt to climb.
In 2019 fell seven climbers in the death during their trip up the mountain, and in 2018, the figure was 11.
“the Mountain has become too unstable and therefore too dangerous to be a tourist attraction, which is being climbed by the many human being every day,” says a guide to the Zurich newspaper Taken-Anzeiger.
Several tourist attractions have been place on the Fodor’s Travels list, because it has been shown that tourists must be extremely careful to consume alcohol, when they travel there.
One of these places is Costa Rica, where 25 persons have lost their lives, and 59 have been hospitalized because of metanolforgiftning in 2019.
Also, Mexico has had an increase in cases where tourists have lost their lives as a result of the poisoned alcohol.
One of the most well-known cases is from 2017, when the 20-year-old american, Abbey Conner was found lifeless in the pool of a hotel in the mexican vacation paradise Cancun.
