Uffe Elbæk said goodbye as chairman with an alternative press conference – of course.
in Front of the total push on the street in a green skovmandsskjorte explained to the man why he says goodbye right now.
‘no, no, No – yes, yes, yes,’ he replied, in one and the same phrase in the classic At-style, as the media has always loved, because it is so easy to caricaturing.
At the same moment floated the social media with warm wishes from all over the political landscape. All they would pay tribute to the man, who, with his own party in 2015 came in the Danish Parliament with a rollicking party, where ‘crazy’ was the most recurrent words.
the Alternative was – just-Alternative – and perhaps, therefore, it has been difficult to assess Uffe Elbæks results and impact. Measured on the bill and the settlement is perhaps not impressive. But do you measure on other parameters, it might not be so crazy, what Uffe Elbæk has been achieved.
Already, in december, wrote B. T.’s political commentator the Sea Marie Serup an analysis of Alternativets results, and it is actually impressive (and I have borrowed away).
Most of all, he and the party would dare to raise a number of general discussions, which obviously had a larger impact among the danes than among the established parties. Uffe Elbæk has dared to talk about big dreams for a more humane society, which takes account of today’s major challenges.
As the Alternative went to the options for the first time in 2015, a reduction of CO2 of 70 percent of their big wish and dream for a green future. Just a year ago the party was still the only one who dreamed the dream.
a week ago it was established policy in a settlement that binds any government onwards. Uffes idea has been to really policy.
Uffe Elbæk was the first that talked about the 30 hour work week. A proposal was ridiculed, because it was an economic utopia. Today sees the publication of regular books of companies, which has just gone over to the working model. The idea was a better relationship between the professional and private life, but at the same time would strengthen both parts of our daily life.
We are not there yet in the labour market, but it is not impossible to implement, and there will inevitably be many more companies that go in that direction. It was impossible, has suddenly become realistic.
Kødfrie days is a different proposal from the early Alternative days. Again, a proposal that was wrinkled on the nose along with the reference to ‘in the Danish bakery, the smell of bacon’.
the Amount of meat in the Danish household is now on the way down, and most of the Danish steakhouses’m seriously thinking, how their business model must evolve.
You can actually go on.
the Alternative, and Uffe Elbæk, has changed the tone in the Chistiansborg. It is now widely accepted that there are other bottom lines than the economic – even in the ministry of Finance.
the Party is publicly known for a lot of gak and fun, wild and ridiculous happenings, but their real results are also worth noting on Uffe Elbæks farveldag.
Thank you, Uffe, because you dared to be ‘ridiculous’ and challenge a number of established dogmas of our common life.
Uffe Elbæks last words to partimedlemmerne are the first lines in a manifesto he wrote for more than six years ago:
‘the Alternative is a political idea of personal freedom, social dignity and vibrant sustainable communities. A hope. A dream.’
Thank you, Uffe, for the dreams. The question is whether the Alternative can dream without you.
