I was 15 and I adored a boy. When he finally invited me for a walk, I almost died of happiness. Strolling romantically between the allotments, he suddenly stopped, leaned towards me and asked: “Can I kiss you?”
When I told my friend this later, we agreed: totally uncool. At the time we saw it as a sign of weakness, today we would celebrate it. Because many people now want consent or consensus when it comes to intimacy, closeness, tenderness or sex.
