Apple takes advantage of the iPhone as a platform on which incorporates functions that arrive via software updates, always free. The arrival of iOS 13 joined important and expected news, but as usual in the brand, a good part of these are not well publicised but that it is the user who will discover with use. We have summarized some of the most interesting, not only iOS 13, but also of previous versions.
iPhone says the name of the caller
there Are many occasions that leave the iPhone and at the pull away, just a call comes in; for this types of situations, and above all, for the people with vision difficulties, Apple has provided a function through which the iPhone ‘sings’ the name of the user as which we have included in the agenda. In this way, we know who calls us without the need to get closer. To activate it, simply go to Settings/Phone/Announce calls and there select Always.
Notification of calls and messages via flicker
In the section Accessibility there are several gems that can be exploited to improve the experience of using your iPhone and one of them is to activate the notification of messages and calls by using the flash light: each time the iPhone need to warn of something to the user, in addition to the vibration and the sound set up, this function is enabled, the flash will blink a few times to warn the user. It is a function, frankly, useful since it helps to easily locate the mobile, in particular when there is little light. It is activated in Settings/Accessibility/Audio-Video and should be selected Notices Flashing LED.
automatic Filter for unwanted calls
If you receive many calls at the end of a day, and most of them are totally unproductive, can be a great idea to avoid that these contacts don’t know them from invading the iPhone. Apple has anticipated this circumstance and it has a function that automatically sends to voicemail all those calls without a sender (the classic, ‘hidden number’) that employ commercial companies, and also of all contacts unless they are on our agenda. To activate this filter, it is necessary to go to Settings/Phone and turn on Mute unknown numbers.
‘Selfies’ using only the voice
The selfies have become almost pandemic among mobile users, but the activation of the front camera requires several steps which can be uncomfortable after a period of time or cause you to lose the magic of what improvised. In this sense, not everybody knows that Siri, the despised Apple’s virtual assistant, you can save this step for us and get us out of a self-portrait without the need to almost touch the iPhone How do you do it? Simply invoke Siri (by pressing the corresponding button, either by ordering a ‘Hey, Siri’) and then say “take a selfie”, and the wizard will activate the front camera.
Slide on the calculator to clear
Another example of the policy of Apple to let the user discover the potential of the platform we found it in the calculator: a Swedish discovered that this useful tool integrated in the system if it is slid to the left to delete the last number entered. It is not known how much time had this feature, but its publication on Twitter became viral and now there are countless owners of the iPhone who use it to their advantage on a daily basis.
Create ringtone, and vibration to selected contacts
A function of the platform allows you to create a new sequence of vibrations and sounds to the contact that you choose. To do this, just go to Settings/Sound and vibration/Vibration/Create a new vibration and generate the desired sequence to assign to the chosen contact.
automatic Call in case of emergency
there Are many stories of iPhone owners who have been in a life or death situation and recourse to the emergency systems of the device have been taken out of the trouble. In what way? The virtual assistant Siri is ready for this type of circumstance, and in case of trouble, once that is invoked by the corresponding key, or the command “Hey, Siri”, if you pronounce the word ‘Relief’, the wizard will call the police informing them of the location of the device, and in addition, will contact by message with the emergency contacts you have established. To configure these contacts, just go to Settings/SOS Emergency and activate automatic Call, to the time that we determine the emergency contacts. These contacts will be alerted as the services emergency and will receive the exact location of the terminal; the advantage of this system is that it does not depend on the coverage of the operator in question, but of the signal in the area in which it is located.
