The space-time of the novel is a substance to be docile, especially when it is used for the manufacture of fables (dystopias, uchrony, utopias…) that the writers sprinkle happy yesterday and immediately, of follow-my-look and you-have-yet-anything-seen. It is to this genre of literature, ironic and ultra-effective – where are illustrated the best of Orwell in Houellebecq’s Submission – that Franz-Olivier Giesbert borrows, today, in the déconfinement, ink, white-fronted and black-of which he had need to describe a present that is defeated under his eyes.
