The influential American TV chef and multiple Emmy winner Michael Chiarello is dead. As his company Gruppo Chiarello announced, according to a report in the industry service “Business Wire”, he died at the age of 61 last Saturday after an allergic reaction anaphylactic shock.

Chiarello became internationally known, among other things, for his participation in the cooking format “Top Chef” and the spin-off “Top Chef Masters”. He received a total of three Emmy Awards in 2003 and 2006 for his own cooking show “Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello”. The chef was famous for his Italian-influenced Southern California cuisine.

His family also has their say in the announcement about Chiarello’s death. “We deeply regret the loss of our beloved patriarch Michael.” His culinary brilliance, his limitless creativity and his unwavering commitment to his family were the core of his being. Chiarello brought people together through his joy of sharing meals and created lasting memories at the table.

In March 2016, Chiarello was in the headlines because of allegations from two former employees. Two lawsuits against Chiarello accused him of sexual harassment and labor law violations. The cases were settled in 2017 for an undisclosed sum.
