On October 15th, Prince Christian (17) celebrates a big party. The eldest son of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark (55) and Crown Princess Mary (51) is finally turning 18. The day before the celebrations, the palace published an entire photo album on Instagram containing numerous pictures from his childhood as well as more recent photos of the prince.
“From child to adult,” says the attached comment. His parents took the pictures in recent years. “On the day before His Royal Highness Prince Christian’s 18th birthday, the Crown Prince Couple shares a series of private memories in this digital photo album […],” it continues to explain.
You can see, among other things, baby photos, photos from the summer of 2012 and while traveling with the family. In one of the photos he is pictured at a very young age with his grandmother, Queen Margrethe II (83).
“On his 18th birthday, His Royal Highness Prince Christian will appear on the balcony of Amalienborg Palace – just like the Prince’s father and grandmother did when they turned 18,” the palace previously said. The performance is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
To accompany the announcement, the court published a video with archive footage that shows Christian’s father at the same event in 1986 and today’s Queen Margrethe II of Denmark in 1958. The two then 18-year-olds completed the traditional event with a friendly wave.
