DETROIT — Detroit will soon host an exhibit that promotes the narrative of Black men through photography, art and stories.
The public opening of “Men of Change: Power.” Triumph. Truth.” Exhibition will be held Sunday at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
It is part of an exhibit tour that was created by Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service.
Ford Motor Co. Fund is also involved in two community initiatives, the Men of Courage Leadership Forum (Men of Courage Barbershop Challenge ) and the Men of Courage Leadership Forum (Men of Courage ). These are connected to the exhibit.
Men of Courage launched the barbershop challenge in 2015 as an extension of its grassroots program. Shears and Shaves Spa, Detroit and Greathouse Barber and Beauty Shop, Southfield are the finalists. According to organizers, the shops will compete for grants over the next three-months based on how they implement initiatives and activities that reinforce positive narratives about Black men.
