NEW YORK, — Adele announced Wednesday that her new album “30”, six years after her last, will be released on November 19.
On Friday, the first single, “Easy on Me”, will be released.
In a long Instagram post, the British singer said that she felt better after having “thrown myself into an absolute mess and inner turmoil.”
She wrote, “I’m ready finally to put this album out.”
Her previous albums, which include huge hits such as “Rolling in the Deep” or “Hello”, are among the 50 most-sold in music history.
The album “21”, which she names for her projects while writing the majority of her music, was released in 2011. It has been sold approximately 31 million copies around the world. The album 25 was released in 2015 and has been sold 22 million copies.
Spotify and Adele are no longer the dominant streaming service, so it’s unlikely that they will ever reach those sales figures. She’s still in a position of fame that only Taylor Swift can reach in the music industry.
She has also been absent for six years, a sign that her tastes are changing from one month to the next.
Adele recently stated in an interview with Vogue that “there isn’t a bombastic Hello.” I don’t want another one like that. It was a song that catapulted my fame to a new level. I don’t want it to happen again.”
Simon Konecki, her ex-husband, has a 9-year old son. Adele is now 33 years old.
Adele posted on Instagram, “I have learned many shocking home truths about myself along the way.” I’ve lost many layers, but also covered myself with new ones. I have found genuinely helpful and wholesome mentalities that I can use to lead, and I feel like my feelings are back. I would go as far as to say I have never felt more peaceful in all my life.
Vogue describes “Easy on Me,” as a “gut wrenching plea for a piano ballad.”
Adele stated that the record is sensitive to her because of how much she loves it. “I always tell people that 21 is not mine anymore. It was taken in their hearts by everyone else. This one is mine and I won’t let it go. This is my album. This is my album. I would like to share with everyone but I don’t think I will ever let it go.”
