Surely the mayor of Toledo, Milagros Tolón, will not forget today’s date: May 25, 2022. This Thursday, the councilor has been declared persona ‘non grata’ by the plenary session of the Murcia City Council, due to the statements made in the Consistory Murcia in which he called for “the end of the Tajo-Segura transfer”.

In full, the ‘popular’ have argued that the socialist mayor attacked “up to four times” an infrastructure such as the transfer, which “symbolizes solidarity and the hallmarks of Murcia.” In addition, the PP councilor, Antonio Navarro Corchón, has disfigured the mayor of Murcia, José Antonio Serrano, for not asking Tolón to “go to Toledo”, after making those statements.

For his part, the spokesman for the Vox Municipal Group, José Ángel Antelo, has accused Serrano of “bringing people to insult the Murcians”, which he has called “irresponsibility” on the part of the Murcian alderman, an issue for which he has demanded “the resignation” of the mayor of Murcia.

Likewise, the spokesman for the Municipal Group of Citizens, Mario Gómez, has asserted that the demonstrations in Tolón represent “a lack of respect” for the users of the Tajo-Segura transfer.

In this regard, Serrano has defended that “he positioned himself in favor of the Murcians”, at the time of Tolón’s statements, he blurted out that “his presence was not pleasant in the Murcia City Council at that time” and added that he told him that “he went to Toledo to purify the water in Madrid so that the bad smell would not reach him.”

In addition, these statements that attack the Tajo Basin Plan, suppose an increase in the price of water. An abuse that goes against the intense initiatives of the PP to lower the price of water for all Murcia.

A few days ago, Tolón stated that she would feel “very proud” to receive this reprobation for “defending the interests of Toledo” and finally, that day has come.
