The president of the Guadalajara Provincial Council, José Luis Vega, together with the mayor of Villel de Mesa, Pedro Lozano, the sub-delegate of the Government, Mercedes Gómez, and the delegate of the Board, Eusebio Robles, cut the inaugural ribbon in the church of Our Lady of the Assumption in a symbolic way, after completing the restoration work that has been carried out on the structure of the temple.
The repair of the parish church of Villel de Mesa was included in the agreement of the Diputación with the Bishopric of Sigüenza-Guadalajara corresponding to the year 2021 for the rehabilitation of temples in the province. The Diputación has contributed to this action an investment of 50,000 euros, which have been used to repair the problems that the building presented in its roof and in the tower, as well as the cracks that it had in the header.
A work that the mayor of the town, Pedro Lozano, has described as “very important, because there was great danger in the eaves and on the roof and everything has been consolidated”, the Provincial Council has reported in a press release.
The president of the Diputación has also visited other actions that have been carried out in Villel de Mesa in this legislature with funds from the Provincial Institution, such as the cobblestone paving in the church square and in Bajadilla street through the Provincial Plans, and which has meant another investment of 50,000 euros.
In addition, as the mayor has recalled, with the Hydraulic Works plan of the Diputación, “we have also brought water from the catchment, with two phases of 35,000 euros each, which was also very necessary because we had to replace the corrugated pipe for the new PVC and now there is much more flow, which is very important for the summer».
On the other hand, through the Focodem, which in its two calls has allocated 20,000 euros to Villel de Mesa, a place has been set up as a commercial establishment. “The store, which has been taken over by a person from the town, is providing a great service,” the mayor stressed.
Pedro Lozano stressed that “there are many things that have been done through this Provincial Council, which we must recognize is doing a lot for small towns.”
For his part, José Luis Vega thanked the mayor of Villel de Mesa “for the great work he is doing for his municipality, because the Provincial Council is a useful tool for the towns, especially for the smallest ones, but in the end it is the mayors like Pedro those who dedicate many hours of their time to improve the lives of their neighbors and neighbors” and has reiterated “the commitment of the Diputación to continue working for the small towns of the province of Guadalajara”.
