Police said that at least one person was injured and one died when a car crashed into pedestrians in Berlin’s popular shopping district on Wednesday morning.
Berlin Police stated via Twitter that it is still not known if the incident was accidental or intentional.
The incident occurred in Berlin’s west, at Tauentzienstrasse. According to police, the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody at the scene.
ABC News was told by a spokesperson from the police that it was not clear if the incident was terrorist-related. Additional details weren’t immediately available.
The scene took place near the Breitscheidplatz in Berlin, where 13 people were killed when an extremist drove a truck into a Christmas marketplace in 2016.
