As is well known, Taylor Swift (33) is currently at the peak of her career so far – for which superstars like Britney Spears (41) also pay her respect. In an Instagram post, Britney remembered her first encounter with the pop star.
The image is a compilation of two photos. In it, Britney and Taylor pose together, once in 2003 and once in 2008. In the first photo, Taylor is around 14 years old and hardly recognizable: wild hair, no make-up, shy smile. The picture from 2008, on the other hand, shows the singer perfectly styled, as we know her today.
As Spears explains in the caption, the two women first met during Spears’ “Oops!… I Did It Again” tour. At that time, Swift had not yet released an album; her self-titled debut was only released in 2006. But she already had big ambitions in 2003, as Britney reports.
As Spears writes, she was introduced to the young Taylor because she wanted to prove her talent to the pop princess. “I have a girl named Taylor who wants to sing for you,” Britney’s manager’s assistant announced. Swift then played a “beautiful song” on her guitar for Spears and sang along. “I thought wow wow, she’s incredible!” Britney enthuses today. And further: “Pretty cool that she’s playing in stadiums [now] and I prefer her videos to a movie any day!!! Girl Crush.”
The post comes exactly one month before Taylor Swift turns 34 on December 13th. She also has a lot to celebrate professionally: “Bloomberg” magazine recently declared the singer the fourth music billionaire ever. She also broke her own record: With her reissued album “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” she sold more albums than ever before in one week, as “Billboard” reported.
