On December 8th, the eagerly awaited “Walking Dead” spin-off with the nickname “Daryl Dixon” will start on Magenta TV in Germany. As the name suggests, actor Norman Reedus (54) once again takes on the role of the fan favorite who managed to survive all eleven seasons of the main series – and is now washed up half-dead in France. The first trailer for the spin-off has now been released and shows what fans can expect. Including French nuns, a damaged Eiffel Tower and a fateful encounter.
In the trailer you can first hear the title character telling the skeptical people who apparently picked him up that he comes from America and ended up in France because of “a series of bad decisions”. In the trailer he finds shelter in a monastery where, in addition to nuns, a very special person is waiting for him.
There, Daryl meets a boy named Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), who seems to be given a big task. Or, as the clergyman played by Clémence Poésy (41) puts it: Laurent should “lead the awakening of humanity […]”. Whatever that means. In any case, a shadowy organization seems to have something against it – and promptly sets out to hunt down “this American” and his protégé.
The plot of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” outlined in the trailer is very reminiscent of that of “The Last of Us” with Pedro Pascal (48) and Bella Ramsey (20): A badly battered, even broken man takes a child, that could possibly be the key to humanity’s advancement, under his wing. An arduous journey lies ahead of them, during which it is obviously not just the undead who are seeking their lives.
The good news for fans: Even before the series was released in this country, it was already extended for a second season. For this, Daryl’s congenial partner Carol (Melissa McBride, 58) returns to the zombie universe. Season two is therefore subtitled “The Book of Carol” and is already in the works. The start date is now set for next year, and the second season will also be shown exclusively on Magenta TV.
