Approaching King Charles III (75) and Prince Harry (39) finally back on? After several months of radio silence, father and son are said to have made contact again. On the occasion of the British monarch’s 75th birthday on November 14th, Harry is said to have called his father, and British media speak of a “peace offer”.
According to the British Mirror, the call was “a nice surprise for the king.” The two are said to have had a “friendly and warm” conversation. According to insiders, Charles also spoke to Harry’s wife Duchess Meghan (42) during the phone call and received a video of his grandchildren Archie (4) and Lilibet (2) in which the two of them sing “Happy Birthday” to him.
Harry and Charles reportedly last spoke in April, shortly before Charles’ coronation. Royal insiders see the phone call as evidence that “both sides have a desire to bury the hatchet and mend their relationship.” It could represent a “real turning point” in the family dispute that has been going on for months. According to the “Sun”, Charles, Harry and Meghan are planning to speak to each other on the phone again soon. According to an insider, there is still a long way to go before a proper reconciliation: “The deeper problems that arose from the Netflix series and ‘Reserve’ cannot be solved in a phone call.”
Prince Harry’s relationship with his father and his older brother, Prince William (41), is considered extremely tense. Since moving to the USA, Harry and Meghan have criticized the royal family often – and sometimes sharply – in several interviews, a Netflix documentary and in “Reserve”, the prince’s autobiography.
