Britain’s new monarch is King Charles III. This was confirmed by Prime Minister Liz Truss (47). According to British media reports, she said: “Today – as it has been for more than a thousand years – the crown will be passed on to our new monarch, our new head of state: His Majesty King Charles III.”
Charles could have chosen to rule under a different name, just like many previous kings and queens.
In a message, Liz Truss also paid tribute to the late Queen as “the rock on which our country was built”: “Britain is the great country it is today because of her. She was the true spirit of Great Britain.” This will remain.
The Queen died peacefully on Thursday at her Balmoral estate in Scotland. This was announced by the royal family. The monarch was 96 years old. The new King and Queen Consort will remain in Balmoral tonight and return to London tomorrow.
