The series “The Crown” about the British royal family will soon end with the final episodes – now props and costumes from the filming will be auctioned off. The London auction house Bonhams wants to auction around 450 objects from the six seasons. These include a gold-colored carriage, pieces of furniture and custom-made clothing.
“The iconic costumes, props and sets of ‘The Crown’ were extensively researched,” the auction house said. They are made with impressive attention to detail.
Costume from coronation scene will be auctioned
Actress Claire Foy, for example, played the young Queen Elizabeth II in the first episodes. Her costume from the coronation scene is now being auctioned off and is expected to fetch around 30,000 to 50,000 pounds, which is the equivalent of around 34,000 to 57,000 euros.
Also being sold is a replica front door of the London government headquarters on Downing Street, a replica Princess Diana’s engagement ring and an old Jaguar. The auction is scheduled to take place in early 2024. The proceeds will be used to support a scholarship program for filmmakers.
A black dress inspired by the so-called Revenge Dress will also be auctioned. Princess Diana once wore the dress at an appearance after her separation from Prince Charles, when his infidelity became public. Actress Elizabeth Debicki’s wardrobe also includes a leopard-print swimsuit and a gray “Harvard” sweater.
