Fans of the British royal family can expect a very special highlight at this year’s Christmas. A documentary film announced by the BBC promises exclusive and extraordinary looks behind the scenes of King Charles III’s first year in office.
According to the broadcaster, the 90-minute documentary “Charles III: The Coronation Year” offers a “unique perspective on the inner workings of a pivotal moment that marks a new era in the history of the monarchy.” After the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), BBC camera crews had direct access to King Charles III. (75) and Queen Camilla (76) to document the preparations for the coronation celebrations and the first period of their reign up close.
The announcement text leaves no doubt that viewers are being offered an exciting highlight as part of the BBC Christmas program that is not to be missed: “At the center of this story is a man who takes on the task that has always been waiting for him . Everyone wants to know how he takes on this challenge.”
Actress Helena Bonham Carter (57), who played the late Queen’s sister, Princess Margaret (1930-2003), in the Netflix series “The Crown”, will be the speaker for the film.
King Charles III appears with the royal documentary. following in his late mother’s footsteps. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip (1921-2021) also allowed the BBC to film behind the scenes at Buckingham Palace for a documentary in 1969.
